here's another great series from kamachi kazuma the author of Toaru majutsu no index, this series is pretty much like toaru , objects are Massive mecha with imba fire power and insane defense that let it withstand a direct hit from multiple nuke strike and a boy that decided to fight a against it, the two protagonist also has similarities they both like they both fight against strong enemies and also being a chick magnet they able to attract girls from different factions, there is also there are sub protagonist in both series, in my opinion the story development of heavy object is more refine that toaru simply because there are just too many characters in to aru and it has 2 secondary protagonist with sets of characters attached with them, there is also the amount of heroines in toaru that is linked with the protagonist touma is to many, there is always heroine or two that's been added after story arc is finish and most of them don't get enough appearance like Kanzaki, Kaouri, Lessar, Itsuwa, Agness, Maria Aquinass and Aisa Himegami ect, while i think heavy object has more balance when it come to appearance of the heroines along with the development in romance and relationship between characters, also gotta love the gags in heavy objects and kamachi, Kazuma manage to insert a gag in a serious situations making it even more funny.
the characters of this series are also interesting, the protagonist Quenser Barbotage a mechanic and demolition expert who can't even shoot guns (or rather not allowed) who wants to be a heavy object designer , his friend Heivia Winchell who came from a noble family, he is one of the few people who actually receive a combat training, together they kick the sh*th out of those Object along with their Elite Milinda Brantini a.k.a Princess a heavy object pilot who's always save Quenser and Hevia whenever they are in pinch and has feeling for Quenser also she a Kuudere character, Floretia Capistrano their commanding officer like Hevia Floretia came from a novel family and has a great body figure she was secretly called by Quenser and Hevia "Booby Commander" she always give the two a scolding whenever they screwed but she also save's them whenever they are in serious pinch that's all for character introduction
the plot of this series set in a world where the country and the united nation no longer exist, what replace them are The Corporation, Information Alliance, Faith Organization and the Legitimacy Kingdom which the protagonist belong to, also the fight between this alliance is handled by the Objects and the victory goes tho who's object win the fight and most of the solider duty is to guard the facility, maintain their object and keep the Elite save due to the fact that only the Elite can pilot the object, usually soldiers don't fight anymore because convectional weapon like tanks and fighters don't work well against object, the only thing that can destroy an object are object too using their main cannons that is the rule of the battlefield that been ruled by object until Quenser break that rules.
objects they are 50 meters walking fortress powered by JPlevelMHD type reactor that is attacked my weapons like coil guns, rail guns, lasers guns and plasma cannons ordinary weapon wont work against them and not even a nuclear missile, the design of the object are pretty unique most of there have sphere shape with legs or thread wheel and have a lots of guns sticking out of them, i think they are clumsy looking things and not my favorite mecha design.
overall i love this series and really enjoy reading it, they have striking similarity with toaru specifically the protagonist and the harem thing (after-all it was written by the same author so i can't be helped) but overall the story of heavy object is pretty much different and i think it a really great series, the combinations of fight between the objects, the action, comedy and with a little bit of Romance and ecchi stuff make this series really good i really recommend this Light Novel to be read
